Release Notes V1.7

Version 1.7 released  9-28-2002

     WxByte

1.      Added support for the Byte Blaster server.

2.      The setup screen now has an option to enable Byte Blaster server support.  (This should only be enabled if you will be using WxBBSrvr)

3.      If no email address is specified, the program will insert an email address in order to satisfy the byte blaster servers.  This will keep the client from being disconnected by the servers when they reach 90% capacity.

4.      If the ingest path is not defined when this program starts, a message box will be displayed and the operator will have the option of seeing a setup screen to establish the ingest path.  This is normally not needed when using Weather Message.

5.      Changed the program from using absolute timing to relative timing.  There were situations where events may not happen, if the computer is busy and the program does not have control during second zero.

6.      Program now makes an entry in the log file when it starts and stops.

7.      Changed the progress bar to style smooth and increased the width of the bar.

8.      The ingest programs now have a separate log file name IBLog.txt

9.      Decreased the purge time on the RxTrack and RxTemp directories to 1 hour.

10. The program now verifies that the tracking file packet total agrees with the message being received.

     WxIngest

1.      Added support for the Byte Blaster Server.

2.      The setup screen now has an option to enable Byte Blaster server support.  (This should only be enabled if you will be using WxBBSrvr)

3.      If the comm port cannot be opened, a message is displayed in the data view field.

4.      Added some additional messages when an error occurs while opening the comm port.  The new messages are more descriptive.

5.      Going into the setup window will no longer result in the comm port being reset.  The comm port will only be reset if the port number is changed.

6.      If the ingest path is not defined when this program starts, a message box will be displayed and the operator will have the option of seeing a setup screen to establish the ingest path.  This is normally not needed when using Weather Message.

7.      The Error screen was reporting its title as “WxByte”.  It has been changed to read WxIngest.

8.      Added some additional error checking.

9.      Program now makes an entry in the log file when it starts and stops.

10. Changed the show name routine to correct an error 380, when a packet header has been corrupted.

12. Move the code to update the total fields to a separate routine.

19. The program now verifies that the tracking file packet total agrees with the message being received.

20.Changed the program to recognize the start of a new block, when the previous block was missing some characters.  This was causing two blocks to be in error, instead of just 1.

2.      The program will no longer attempt to process a ZIP file as a text file.
