Release Notes V2.7

Version 2.7 released  2-27-2005

     WxByte

1.      The program now removes the tracking file when the product is received with no problems.

2.      The main form now displays information on the packets received.  It also displays the current server’s IP address along with the total amount of connect time.

3.      The program now records the number of packets received along with error information in the iblog.txt file.  It is in the same format as WxIngest.

4.      Changed the packet decoding routine to process each packet as it arrives.  It was always leaving one packet in the buffer.

5.      Change the processing routine to operate every 250 milliseconds.

6.      The block statistics recorded in the iblog.txt now contains a second line showing the error details, if errors occur during the 1-hour reporting period.

7.      Discovered a problem in the header validation that would cause a data packet filled with binary zeros to be rejected with a check sum error.   This caused a problem with a small number of the ZIS files.

8.      Reduced the default time-out period to 15 seconds.  The minimum value was reduced to 10 seconds.

     WxIngest

1.      The program now removes the tracking file when the product is received with no problems.

2.      Now reports to the byte blaster server when it stops sending data.

3.      The block statistics record in the iblog.txt now contains a second line showing the error details, if errors occur during the 1-hour reporting period.

4.      Discovered a problem in the header validation that would cause a data packet filled with binary zeros to be rejected with a check sum error.  This cause a problem with a small number of the ZIS files.

      Weather Message Server

1.      The server now sends the server version number to the client when it connects.

2.      The View Connections screen now prints the version number of the client.  This requires a version 2.7 client to be connected.

3.      The Message Decode routine now removes hex 1E characters from messages.  This corrects a problem with the SWOMCD message.

4.      Now support multiple email, paging and fax groups per alarm line.

5.       The short message variable $HeadLine$ normally includes headlines for the specific UGC group alarmed.  Several messages now have headlines before the UGC groups and no headlines within the individual UGC groups.  The program will now check for this condition and use the headlines prior to the UGC groups, if no headlines were found inside the alarmed UGC group.

6.       The connections status screen will now automatically refresh the connections every 15 seconds.

7.      Added support for 250 user connections.

8.      Changed the retry limit when reading files from the ingest directory.  Some users were still experiencing error 70’s – permission denied.

      WxMesgSetup

1.      The VTEC phenomena list box sorts after all items have been selected.

2.      Now supports multiple email, paging and fax groups.

3.      Updated the county fips file with the latest changes from the map database.

4.      Updated the states file.  Removed MP and UM – they were combined with HI and GU.

5.      The program will no longer allow a group name to be entirely numeric.  This compensates for the error 35603 reported by the Microsoft Listview control when keys are entirely numeric.

6.      Added a “Collectives” option under the Support Setup menu.  This option will allow you to setup a path to store the raw SAHOURLY.txt file.

7.      Removed the automatic alarm file conversion from version 1.x To version 2.x.  Existing version 1.x users wishing to update to version 2.7 will need to load and save their alarm file using version 2.6, prior to upgrading to version 2.7.

8.      Added the ability to specify the days of the week allowed for the time restrict option.

9.      Added additional fields to the WxAlarm.txt file for future updates.

10.  Added a text exclude option to the alarm item screen.  Text entered in this field will be checked in the received text.  If it is found, the alarm will be disabled.

11. The Options window now allows you to set the type of timeout that is used for Ftp operations.  Check the Absolute Time box to make the timeouts absolute.  With this option checked, if the ftp operation does not complete within the time specified in the timeout box, the operation will be aborted.

12. The Options window now allows you to setup the timeout value for Http operations.   Http operations previously used the ftp timeout value.

13. Changed the ipinfo.ocx back to version 5.0.  This makes this release compatible with Windows NT.

14. The Options window now allows you to enable “county delimiters”.  This option is enabled by default and will instruct the software to insert comma’s between county names.  If there are more than one county, the comma is changed to an “&” sign between the last two counties.

15. The word “County” used in the short paging format will now change to “Counties” where there is more than one county.

16. Changed all programs to support XP Style screens, when running on XP.

17. The Product.dat file now contains three additional fields to indicate if the product contains a UGC line, a VTEC line and if the UGC line contains both Fips and Zone codes.  Note:  The product file will have to be updated with the correct information for these new fields.
